Vedanta in discussions with three potential partners for Dholera project: Anil Agarwal
July 29, 2023
Gandhinagar: Anil Agarwal, the chairman of Vedanta Group, revealed that the conglomerate is currently in discussions with three potential partners for its Dholera project. He mentioned that the company has recently put forth new proposals for establishing a semiconductor and display fab. Agarwal shared this information with media during the SemiconIndia 2023 inaugural ceremony.
The initial phase of their semiconductor project will require a significant investment of $5 billion, and they aim to produce a made-in-India chip within the next two and a half years. Agarwal emphasized that they are in talks with different partners for the foundry, chips, packaging, and testing aspects, and the finalization of these partnerships is expected in the coming months.
Despite Foxconn, the Taiwanese contract chip manufacturer, pulling out of the joint venture with Vedanta Group, the latter remains steadfast in its commitment to establish India’s first semiconductor and display fab in the Dholera special investment region (DSIR) of Gujarat. The electronics and IT ministry has received a fresh proposal for the Dholera project from Vedanta, and it is currently under consideration.
