Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government facilitated the repatriation of a woman with Gujarati roots from Portugal after her family sought the assistance of Minister of State for Home, Harsh Sanghavi. The family alleged that she was subjected to torture and mental harassment by her spouse.
According to the details, Ashok Chauhan, a native of Gujarat, reached out to the State Home Minister, Harsh Sanghvi, expressing that his daughter, Jinal Verma, was residing in Portugal with her husband, Rahul Kumar Verma. He alleged that Jinal was facing both physical and mental abuse from her husband and was being closely monitored. He requested the safe return of his daughter to Gujarat.
Taking note of the plea, Sanghvi initiated efforts to bring Jinal back to her home state. The petitioner’s request was forwarded by the office of the Non-Resident Gujarati Division to the Embassy of India in Lisbon, Portugal, and the Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India also completed the necessary actions through email. The embassy then cooperated with Portuguese authorities to facilitate Jinal’s return to her home country.
Now that Jinal is back home, her family expressed gratitude towards the MoS Home and all the authorities who assisted in her safe return. DeshGujarat
