August 2023 driest, warmest since 1901, here’s the Gujarat scenario district wise

Gandhinagar: This August (2023) was the driest and warmest August for the entire country since weather records began being kept in 1901, said India Meteorological Department (IMD).

IMD added that rains in September (2023) are likely be normal, meaning that the monsoon season this year is likely to end with below normal rainfall.

If we speak about Gujarat, the latest IMD figures available on 31st August show:

10 districts of Gujarat are rain deficient(minus 59 to minus 20% range compared to normal):

Dangs – minus 26%

Tapi – minus 21%

Narmada – minus 35%

Vadodara – minus 33%

Panchmahal – minus 27%

Dahod – minus 43%

Aravalli – minus 24%

Gandhinagar – minus 42%

Ahmedabad – minus 25%

Mahesana – minus 23%

10 districts are having normal rainfall(plus-minus 19% range compared to normal):

Surat – minus 9%

Bharuch – minus 16%

Chhota Udepur – minus 18%

Anand – minus 8%

Kheda – minus 16%

Mahisagar – minus 16%

Sabarkantha – minus 12%

Patan – minus 13%

Surendranagar – minus 10%

6 districts have received excess rainfall (20% to 59%)
