Details on water storage in dams across Gujarat

Gandhinagar: With over 85% of the average monsoon rain completed in the state of Gujarat so far, following are the details of storage of water.
Out of the five largest dams in the state, namely Sardar Sarovar, Ukai, Kadana, Dharoi, and Panam, as per official data dated September 11, 2023, Gujarat’s lifeline and the largest dam, Sardar Sarovar Narmada dam, is now over 87.10 % full.
The Ukai dam in Tapi district is currently at 79.24% of its storage capacity. Dharoi dam in Mehsana is at 91.16% of its capacity. On the other hand, Kadana dam in Mahisagar, the third-largest dam, is only at 35.89% of its storage. Panam, which is also in Mahisagar, is holding 49.88% of the water as of today.
The Karjan dam in Narmada district has 77.96% storage, Damanganga in Vapi has achieved 86.80% of its total holding capacity, Dantiwada in Banaskantha of North Gujarat is at 95.15% full. The largest dam in the Saurashtra region, Shetrunji dam of Bhavnagar, is 99.40% full, and Rajkot’s Bhadar, which is also the second-largest dam in the Saurashtra region, is full at 92.93% of its capacity.
There are eight dams in the state that are over 90% full as of today. These dams include Wankabori dam, which is at 100% of its storage capacity, Hadaf at 99.98% full, Shetrunji at 99.40% full, Bhadar 2 at 98.10% full, Dantiwada at 95.15%, Bhadar at 93.93% of its capacity, and Und I and Dharoi at 91.63% and 91.16%, respectively.
The dams that are filled between 70% – 90% of their capacity are Machhu -1 at 87.42% storage, Ukai at 79.24% water, Karjan at 77.96%, and Khodiyar, Harnav 2, and Machhu – 2 at 74.97%, 74.93%, and 74.00%, respectively.
Four dams that are least filled and have not even received 40% of the water are Javanpura dam, which is only filled to 5.81% of its capacity, Mazam dam at 27.85%, Sipu dam at 28.69%, and Kadana, only filled up to 35.89%. DeshGujarat
