Water level above danger mark at Narmada railway bridge in Bharuch; Rail traffic affected

Bharuch: In a major development, the Silver railway bridge in Bharuch over river Narmada has been closed for the first time in the last many decades, due to the danger level of water in river Narmada. With this, Vadodara – Surat railway traffic has witnessed disruption like never before. The trains towards Vadodara will operate from Bharuch station while trains towards Surat will operate from Ankleshwar, it is learnt. The trains cancelled include Vande Bharat, Shatabdi, Tejas, Bandra – Amritsar among others.

It’s worth noting that the level of water at Golden bridge which is located next to the railway bridge which is known as Silver bridge reached above 40 ft post midnight of September 17. The railway bride which is shut for trains for now is on the Mumbai – Delhi main railway route which also connects Vadodara and Surat or Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

According to Divisional Railway Manager of Vadodara – ‘Due to water level above the danger mark on bridge no 502 several trains are cancelled or diverted via Udhna-Jalgaon – Bhusaval.DeshGujarat
