Junagadh: The Girnar Lili Parikrama, a yearly occurrence lasting five days that starts with Devuthni Ekadashi and concludes with Kartik Purnamashi, is scheduled to commence on November 23. The Parikrama will begin with a midnight shot of fire in the air, as per tradition.

To ensure the smooth functioning of the parikrama, the Superintendent of Police and Deputy Superintendent of Police of Junagadh district, along with other officials, conducted an inspection of the Yatra route. The police department is actively involved, deploying officers along the route to assist pilgrims.

The total parikrama route covers a distance of 36 km. Annakshetras will provide food to pilgrims, while parabs will offer water.

Starting near Rupayatan, parikrama pilgrims will first halt at Jinabava Madhi. On the second day, they will pause at Sarkadia Hanuman, with the third halt at Bordevi. Points for parking vehicles for parikrama pilgrims have been finalized.

Approximately one million Hindus participate in Girnar’s annual Lili Parikrama (Green pradakshina or circumlocution), occurring from Kartik 11 to 15 every year, according to the Gujarati calendar.

Girnar, the tallest mountain in Gujarat, is located 6 km away from Junagadh city.

According to popular belief, after winning the war at Kurukshetra, the Pandavas performed the parikrama to seek God’s blessings.

The stretch of the Girnar Lili Parikrama passing through the forest offers an adventurous trip for youngsters. After rainfall, ponds and rivers are filled with water, enhancing the scenic beauty of the forest and hills.
