Ahmedabad: In another incident of contamination in the food items served at hotels and restaurants, a live caterpillar was found in a burger at Real Paprika Pizza Center near Manki Circle in the New Ranip area on Tuesday. Similarly, an insect was also found in the food served at a restaurant in Vastral called British Pizza.

The people who found the insect recorded a video of the live caterpillar, which subsequently went viral on social media, and the incident was also reported to the food department of the municipal corporation.

According to the information, a youth named Nikhil visited Real Paprika Express Outlet located in AARYAMAN building near Manki Circle in the New Ranip area of the city to order a burger and a pizza. After receiving the burger and consuming a piece of it, he found a caterpillar inside. He left the partially eaten burger and informed the manager about the presence of insects in the food served at the restaurant.

The young man has also lodged a complaint with the food department of the municipal corporation regarding the live caterpillar in the burger. Several cases of pest infestations have come to light in the city, particularly in branded pizza centers and hotel restaurants. Over the past two months, four to five such cases have emerged.

In another similar incident on the same day, an insect was found in food served at British Pizza in Vastral area. The pizza store provides unlimited meals at fixed prices, and while having salad and other dishes at the restaurant, one person found an insect roaming in the plate. Given the increasing number of such incidents, it is crucial to inspect restaurants and branded pizza centers for cleanliness and take strict actions, including imposing fines and sealing establishments.
