Junagadh Police uses paragliding for surveillance of Lili Parikrama
November 24, 2023
Junagadh: In a first-of-its-kind move, Junagadh Police has opted to conduct air surveillance by paragliding over the route of Lili Parikrama of Girnar.
The annual Girnar Lili Parikrama that began on November 23rd is expected to see a turnout of around 15 lakh devotees. To keep a secure watch in the jungle areas that are not easily accessible by vehicles, the police will, for the first time, use paramotor surveillance.
The Superintendent of Police, Junagadh district, Harshad Mehta, himself monitored the route via paragliding and said, “If surveillance is needed for areas that are not communicable and do not have access to vehicular transport, then we are using paramotor surveillance. This paramotor is a non-fixed-wing adventure sports glider, by which one officer accompanied by one pilot can conduct surveillance. The officer will have a wireless headphone and camera capable of 360-degree surveillance.”
It is noteworthy that the total parikrama route covers a distance of 36 km, and the parikrama is a five-day-long event that began on Devuthni Ekadashi and will conclude on Kartik Purnamashi. DeshGujarat
