Congress refutes “rumors” that Arjun Modhwadia is set to leave the party
January 14, 2024
Gandhinagar: Amid speculations that number of party MLAs including former Gujarat Congress chief and former Opposition leader Arjun Modhwadia may leave the Congress party ahead of the Lok Sabha general elections this year, Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee Media Convenor and Spokesperson Dr. Manish Doshi informed that the news going on about the former president of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee Arjunbhai Modhwadia is just a rumor.
Doshi said – ‘such rumors are being spread deliberately to harm the Congress party and Arjunbhai, and the Congress party completely refutes such unfounded and fabricated news. On the 13th at Vadgam in Banaskantha district and today at the residence of State Congress Vice President Bimal Shah in Dhal ni Pol, Arjunbhai has asked to stay away from such rumours.’
Doshi further said – ‘Hon’ble Mr. Arjunbhai Modhwadia is a conscientious and senior leader of Congress party. The party President of the State has spoken to Honorable Arjunbhai. There is a rumor going on about Arjunbhai Modhwadia which is deliberately being spread by certain elements to harm the Congress party. For the sake of media’s own reputation and integrity, any news should be taken from the person concerned so that the media’s reputation is not damaged for the sake of BJP.’
It’s worth noting that Modhwadia had recently questioned the central party leadership’s decision to boycott the Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir’s inauguration function in Ayodhya. Not just Modhwadia, but other leaders such as former party MLA Ambarish Der, Patan MLA Kirit Patel and others had publicly showed their disagreement with the party’s leadership over Ram Mandir inauguration issue.
