Some of eye-catching features of now completed Okha – Bet Dwarka sea bridge in Gujarat

Okha: An iconic sea bridge connecting Okha and Bet Dwarka is all set for inauguration, most likely on 22nd February. Some of eye catching features of this bridge are interesting to note.

The bridge has 2 by 3 meter stone panels at every 10 meters gap. The stones have carved Geeta Shloka, Vishnu Sahastra stotram and other religious lines about Shri Krishna in Hindi, English and Gujarati languages. The bridge has colorful peacock feathers carved. These feathers will be visible even during the dark with lighting. The bridge has lot of decorative lighting in place. Illumination of cable, pylon lighting and 3d holographic image of Shri Krishna and related images are also planned on this 2.3 km long sea bridge, first in Gujarat and first of its kind in India.

The bridge is energy efficient structure. There are solar panels atop the walkways of the bridge to produce 1 MW power. It will be used for lighting requirement over the bridge. Surplus power shall be supplied to power grid.

The location of this bridge is decided in such a way that coastal ecology is not harmed. DeshGujarat
