Gujarat govt identifies land for Ekta Nagar Airport
February 08, 2024
Narmada: The Gujarat government has identified land in three villages, namely Kherkuva, Bhadarva, and Sureva, for the proposed airport at Ekta Nagar to enhance connectivity to the Statue of Unity. This information was provided on Tuesday in response to a query raised by Dabhoi BJP MLA Shailesh Mehta in the state assembly.
The land in these villages located in Tilakwada Taluka will be used for the construction of a 3,000-metre runway. The chosen land includes approximately 210 sq m of private land, and permission for land acquisition was granted by the state government on November 20, 2023. The decision to develop a modern airport in the area is driven by the significant influx of domestic and international tourists visiting the Statue of Unity.
Currently, a pre-feasibility report is being prepared by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), and upon completion, work on land acquisition will commence. DeshGujarat
