PM Modi to dedicate Surendranagar – Rajkot railway double track, other projects

Rajkot: Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi during his visit to Rajkot on 25 February will also dedicate a Rajkot – Surendranagar double track project of Railways. The project would save time on journey between Ahmedabad and Rajkot.

Rs. 1056 crore double track project between Rajkot and Surendrangar is completed. At present the works are going on for double track of Rajkot – Kanalur route. With completion of Ahmedabad – Rajkot double track project, the journey time can be reduced by about one hour. Increase in frequency of trains, saving of time and increased speed of trains are benefits of the 116-km project between Rajkot and Surendranagar which took about four years to complete. Due to singl track, the crossing of trains would take longer. The route had goods and passenger train traffic as high as 147 percent.

The Prime Minister will also dedicate Rs. 95 crore pumping station is set up for 22 villages in Rajkot Urban Development Authority (RUDA) by the Water supply department. The Prime Minister who will be on a visit to Rajkot primarily to inaugurate the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) 250-bed hospital and Zanana (Mother and Child) hospital will also dedicate Rs. 56 crore sub stations, Rs. 87 crore Shapar bus station, Rs. 53 crore Solar power plant at Bhavnagar and perform ground breaking for Rs. 245 crore hospital in Palitana.

Previously it was reported that the Prime Minister would also dedicate Atal Sarovar and Smart City project of Rajkot but both projects are likely to complete in June this year, and therefore they are not to be inaugurated by Prime Minister during his upcoming visit to Rajkot . DeshGujarat
