Mufti Salman Azhari held under PASA
February 22, 2024
Junagadh: Maulana Mufti Salman Azhari who was released on bail in atrocity act case in Modasa today was detained under PASA (Gujarat Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act).
According to his lawyers, PASA charge-sheet was just handed over to them today and they were yet to study it as it was in hundreds of pages. The lawyers said they would study the charge-sheet and make representation before PASA board or the High Court for release of Azhari.
Mufti was first arrested from Ghatkopar in Mumbai for a hate speech case in Junagadh. When he got bail, he was re-arrested in another hate speech case filed against him in Kutch. When he was released on bail in Kutch case, there was another complaint against him in Modasa which also included sections pertaining to the atrocity act.
Mufti Salman Azhari was today released on bail in Modasa atrocity case with some conditions attached, but immediately was detained under PASA. His lawyers said, though there are three cases against Maulana and that has been the ground to invoke PASA against him, the cases are not serious in nature and therefore they have full faith that Azhari will be released after due process of law.
In latest Azhari has been shifted to Vadodara based jail from Central jail in Ahmedabad. DeshGujarat
