Gandhinagar: Opposition parties Indian National Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have decided to go to the Lok Sabha elections this year in Gujarat jointly. Gujarat has total 26 Lok Sabha seats. Congress will field its candidates on 24 seats, while AAP candidates will contest on two seats with Congress support, that are Bharuch and Bhavnagar. AAP had already announced its decision to field Chaitar Vasava from Bharuch Lok Sabha seat and Umesh Makwana from Bhavnagar Lok Sabha seat some time ago. Chaitar Vasa represents Dediyapada assembly seat in the State assembly while Umesh Makwana represents Botad seat. General elections of Lok Sabha are all set to be held in the months of April and May this year. Congress and AAP both are part of the I.N.D.I alliance nationally.
Meanwhile, late Ahmed Patel’s son Faisal Patel and daughter Mumtaz Patel are upset with Congress leadership’s decision to allocate Bharuch seat to AAP. Faisal Patel said he would reach Delhi and discuss the issue with party leadership. Patel said he wishes to contest from Bharuch seat and he would fly to Delhi to discuss this with party leadership. Patel said Bharuch has special relation with Congress party and he would do whatever the party workers ask him to do in future.
Ahmed Patel’s daughter Mumtaz Patel who is also socially active in Bharuch tweeted apologies to Congress party’s district cadre in Bharuch for not being able to secure that Bharuch Lok Sabha seat in alliance.
Deeply apologize to Our district cadre for not being able to secure the Bharuch Lok Sabha seat in alliance.I share your disappointment.Together, we will regroup to make @INCIndia stronger .We won’t let @ahmedpatel 45 years of Legacy go in vain. #bharuchkibeti
