No signs of reopening of Udhna railway station platforms 2 & 3 after 21st March deadline

Surat: Platform number 2 and 3 at Udhna railway station in Surat were closed on December 21st for a 90-day period up to March 21st for construction works related to a redevelopment project. Ideally, the platforms should reopen to the public after March 21st, but looking at the slow progress of work, it’s impossible to throw open the platforms on March 21st.

The trains that used to stop at platforms 2 and 3 now take a halt at platforms 4 and 5. Long-distance trains that pass through the tracks of platforms 2 and 3 are regulated at a speed of 10–20 km/h. Thus, the closure of platforms not only affects the passengers but also the operations of trains.

Looking at the slow pace of work, the closed platforms are not likely to reopen soon. DeshGujarat
