Sanand: A leopard has been sighted in the vicinity of Kalhaar Blues and Greens residential cluster, situated in Sanand town of Ahmedabad. The reports of leopard sightings have left the residents apprehensive, and the forest department on high alert. Residents of neighboring villages near Sanand have also reported similar sightings. However, the forest officials have not found any concrete evidence of leopard activity in the area so far.
A forest official mentioned that despite reports from Indian Oil Corporation staff and locals, extensive searches conducted by the forest department yielded no traces of the leopard. The department is maintaining vigilance in Sanand and nearby areas, but no pug marks have been found yet.
A video of the leopard from a week ago has come to light, and according to a senior officer, the animal depicted in the video appears to be an adult leopard. However, surveillance efforts have failed to uncover any signs of prey, excrement, or footprints to substantiate the video.
This is not the first such incident for the city. In February 2021, a leopard was found dead on an overbridge near Sarkhej. DeshGujarat
