Amul hikes milk price by Re. 1 per half litre bag

Gandhinagar: Like every summer, Amul has increased the price of milk. However, unlike the previous summer, Amul delayed the price increase, apparently due to the general elections of Lok Sabha.

Amul has increased the price of 1 liter Amul Gold milk by Rs. 2. The prices of Amul Shakti and Tea Special have also been increased. The revised rates will be effective from Monday, the 3rd of June.

The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) has increased the per-liter price of Amul Gold from Rs. 64 to Rs. 66. This means a half-liter bag will be available for Rs. 33. Similarly, the price of Amul Taja per liter shall be Rs. 54, while the price of Amul Shakti per liter will be Rs. 60.

Official note:

The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), marketer of milk and milk products under the brand name of Amul, has increased the prices of fresh pouch milk by approx. Rs 2 per litre effective from 3rd June’2024 in all markets across the country.

The increase of Rs 2 per litre translates to range of 3-4% increase in MRP which is much lower than average food inflation. It is worthwhile to note that since Feb’2023, Amul has made no increase in prices of Fresh Pouch milk in major markets.

This price hike is being done due to increase in overall cost of operation and production of milk. Our member unions have also increased farmer’s price approximately by 6-8% over the last one year.

Amul as a policy passes on almost 80 paise of every rupee paid by consumers for milk and & milk products to the milk producers. The price revision shall help in sustaining remunerative milk prices to our milk producers and to encourage them for higher milk production. DeshGujarat
