June 10, 2024
Ahmedabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today nabbed one Wasim Akram Mahmudbhai Patel, working as MPS (Contractual) in the Daskroi Taluka Panchayat Office, in a bribery case involving Rs. 8000.
The plaintiff in this case had bought agricultural land in survey no. 193 and survey no. 132 of Navpura village in Daskroi taluka of Ahmedabad district from farmer Bhanuji Mawsangji Thakor and other joint owners. The land was bought in the name of his wife, Nikitaben, and the documentation work was stalled due to a lack of certificates. An encumbrance certificate, showing there is no debt on the land, was needed, for which the accused demanded a bribe of Rs. 20,000 and took Rs. 10,000 in advance. Later, the remaining Rs. 10,000 was reduced to Rs. 8,000, which the complainant was not willing to pay, so he contacted the ACB.
Based on that complaint, a bribe trap was set up, during which the accused had a conversation, demanded the bribe money, accepted it, and was caught red-handed while committing the crime. DeshGujarat
