Theft of Rs. 2.62 lakh from donation box of Khodaldham; One held

Rajkot: A person working as a driver in the office of Khodaldham Trust-Kagvad stole Rs. 2.62 lakh from the donation box of the Khodaldham temple. When the trust’s president Naresh Patel’s PA and a security guard became aware of the incident, they caught the driver and handed him over to the police along with the cash.

The complaint lodged by Ketanbhai Jentilal Pansuriya (aged 40) names Ashwin Lakhman Mungra as the accused and states he has been working as the HR head in Khodaldham Trust-Kagvad’s office. Ashwin Laxman Mungra has been working as a car driver in their office for the last eight years.

The complaint states, “Yesterday morning, while I was at home, the PA of Trust Chairman Nareshbhai Patel, Kaushikbhai Surela, called and said that Ashwin Mungra, who was working as a driver in our trust, broke the donation box and stole the donation amount in a bag. Security guard Harshbhai Panchal and Kaushikbhai caught him.”

The donation boxes from the temple are brought to our Shree Khodaldham Trust office every Wednesday and opened and counted every Thursday.

As per the incident details, while Kaushik and Harsh were standing near the lift on the ground floor, the accused Ashwin Mungra got out of the lift, saw them, became very scared, and tried to hide the bag he was carrying. When they opened the bag and checked it, they found cash inside. Upon questioning him, he admitted that he was in debt and had broken the donation box to steal the cash. The trustees and officials of the trust were then informed about the theft.

Ashwin Mungra stole a total of Rs. 2.62 lakh, which was taken to the Malviya Nagar Police Station. Based on the complaint, the Malviya Nagar Police have registered a case and arrested the accused. DeshGujarat
