Railway Board orders nationwide inspection of catering services in 58 trains including Shatabdi, Rajdhani

Surat: The Railway Board has initiated a surprise inspection of catering services across 58 trains nationwide, including Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express trains. The checking drive is in response to frequent complains coming from passengers about overcharging and lack of food quality. The inspections is being carried out by 19 teams of Commercial Management Inspector(CMI). In the case of Western Railways, the drive will continue till June 28. The drive started from Surat.
Initial stage of checking will take place in trains such as Tapti Ganga Surat-Bhagalpur, Rajdhani Express, August Kranti Rajdhani, Raj Express, and Shatabdi Express. The report from these inspections will be submitted to the Chief Commercial Manager on June 29. Based on the findings, further action will be taken.
The checking teams include officials from the Mumbai division of the Western Railway zone including Surat, Vyara, Vapi, Nandurbar, Borivali, Bhayander, Andheri, Palghar, and Mumbai Central. Teams from the medical department are checking the quality of food, the commercial department is monitoring for overcharging, and the mechanical department is inspecting safety equipment.
They will check the pantry coaches in trains like 12921, 12961, 22989, 22451, 22949, 22915, 19015, 12480, 22991, 22950, 19021, and others. DeshGujarat
