Gujarat CM approves Rs. 399 crore proposal for construction of two new river bridges in North Gujarat

Gandhinagar: North Gujarat will witness the construction of two new bridges at a cost of Rs. 399 crore. The two new bridges will be built on State Highway Number 55 and will be constructed by the State government.

The State government announced today that the Chief Minister has given in-principle approval for the construction of two new river-bridges.

One of the bridges will be built on the Radhanpur – Himmatnagar road near Radhanpur, spanning the river Banas, at a cost of Rs. 179 crore. This will be a four-lane wide bridge.

The existing bridge near Gochnad village on the river Banas, which connects Radhanpur to Chanasma, is 59 years old and has reached the end of its lifespan, while traffic is increasing on this stretch. Therefore, the Chief Minister has approved a proposal to build a new 4-lane bridge here. The proposal was put forward by the Road and Building department. The new proposed bridge will benefit around 40 lakh people. It will eliminate the bottle-neck issue here. It will come up next to the existing old bridge.

The other bridge will be constructed on the Mahesana – Himmatnagar road over the river Sabarmati at Derol, costing Rs. 220 crore. It will be a 6-lane bridge.

The existing bridge on the highway connecting Mahesana and Himmatnagar, located on the Sabarmati river near Derol village, is 58 years old and currently two-lane. Its lifespan has expired and it is very narrow. Consequently, the Chief Minister has approved the proposal from the Road and Building department for a 6-lane bridge here. The new bridge will benefit around 50 lakh citizens. DeshGujarat
