June 30, 2024
Patan: Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel visited Siddhpur today to inspect the ongoing Saraswati Riverfront development project. Accompanied by MLA Shri Balwantsinh Rajput, Padma Shri Savjibhai Dholakia, and state government officials, the CM oversaw the progress and provided guidance on the project.
The project is undertaken jointly by the Gujarat Government and Dholakia Foundation with a budget of Rs 20 crore. The project aims to revive the Saraswati River and develop a riverfront on both banks. Beautification efforts are underway to ensure year-round visibility of the river. The completion of the project is expected by December 2024.
Rainwater will be stored along a one-kilometre stretch of the riverbed to revive the Saraswati River. Additionally, an immersion pond will be constructed for ‘tarpan’ rituals on the riverbanks. These efforts aim to complete the beautification of the Saraswati River before 2025 and transform it into a popular tourist destination.
Currently, 75 workers are operating with 5 Hitachi machines, 1 JCB, 1 water tanker, 1 dozer, and 5 trucks round the clock. Another team equipped with 4 Hitachi machines, 4 JCBs, and 40 workers will soon join the effort. DeshGujarat
