Gujarat CM visits Hare Krishna Water Conservation Project at Suigam, Banaskantha

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited the Hare Krishna water conservation project in Kumbharkha village today. Kumbharkha is located in Suigam taluka, Banaskantha district.
Once completed, the proposed reservoir will help raise the groundwater levels in this border area near the Rann of Kutch. The reservoir under development will also provide benefits for irrigation and local tourism.
The project is being carried out by the Savji Dholakiya Foundation, led by Surat-based Padmashri diamond baron Savjibhai Dholakia. A water body is being developed on 30 hectares of land, with local villagers contributing Rs. 16 lakh and Savji Dholakia Foundation and Gujarat government collaboration contributing Rs. 4.50 crore. The reservoir will measure 1,360 meters in length and 480 meters in width, with a depth of 1 meter, and a water storage capacity of 45 lakh cubic meters.
The proposed lake will receive rainwater from Vajapur, Kalyanpura, Eta, Rampura, Bhatasna, Radka, and Chatra villages. Over 500 farmers from Kumbarkha, Khadol, Bhatasna, Radka, Chatra, Sedav, Uchosan, and Kumbharkha villages will benefit from irrigation, covering around 1500 acres of land. DeshGujarat
