Red alert in these parts of Gujarat till July 5; IMD forecast

Banaskantha: Heavy rains have been battering the North Gujarat region since Wednesday. Today, the Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Banaskantha district in North Gujarat. Along with Banaskantha, red alerts have also been issued until tomorrow morning for Narmada, Tapi, and Surat districts.

According to the latest bulletin from IMD, “Heavy to very heavy rains at isolated places with isolated extremely heavy falls are very likely in the districts of Gujarat region namely Banaskantha, Narmada, Tapi & Surat.” These places are put on red alert.

Meanwhile, other districts under an orange alert, with forecasts of very heavy rain, include Panchmahal, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Bharuch, Navsari, Valsad, Surendranagar, Amreli, Botad, Daman, and Dadra Nagar Haveli.

Districts marked with a yellow alert may experience heavy rains. These districts include Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Dang, Dahod, Mahisagar, Rajkot, Morbi, and Kutch.

The rest of the state is expected to receive light to moderate rainfall.

From July 5th 8:30 am to July 6th, 8:30 am, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, and Dadra Nagar Haveli are under an orange alert, with heavy to very heavy rains expected at isolated places.

Heavy rains are also expected at isolated places in the districts of Gujarat region, namely Patan, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, and Vadodara; and in the districts of Saurashtra, namely Surendranagar, Rajkot, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, and Botad.

On July 6th, heavy rains are very likely at isolated places in the districts of Gujarat region, specifically Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, and in Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli.

From July 7th to July 11th, light to moderate rainfall is expected across all 33 districts of Gujarat.
