July 30, 2024
Surat: The Ukai dam, the second largest dam in Gujarat and the largest one in South Gujarat, today at 6 p.m. witnessed an inflow of over 1 lakh cusecs of water from upstream areas. The inflow was 107820 cusecs at 6 pm. However, the outflow in the river Tapi was nil, while the outflow in the canal was merely 600 cusecs. Tapi Dam has a designed gross storage capacity of 7117 MCM. However, the present gross storage is just 4151.60 MCM. The dam is 55.99 percent full as of 6 pm today. Its water level is at 98.66 m against the rule level of 101.50 m before 1st August. The full level is above 105 m. The dam is therefore being filled with incoming water from upstream for the last few days without release in the downstream towards Surat. DeshGujarat
