Surat: Promised deadline of removing the broken span on the pillars of under-construction elevated metro rail line in Saroli area of Surat was missed by Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation(GMRC) on Saturday. The span which broke down on last Monday was to be removed by Saturday evening so that the Saroli – Kadodara road could be reopened for traffic. However due to rain, the span couldn’t be removed on Saturday. The task is now likely to complete on Monday.
Around 2 lakh commuters are facing trouble due to closure of Saroli land mark char rasta to Saniya-Hemad tran rasta route for last six days. A diversion has been given from Parvat Patiya to Reshma circle BRTS and through Niyol check post on the outr ring road. Due to over burderning on this diverted route which had already the routine presence of lot of vehicles, heavy traffic jam is witnessed daily. Over 100 persons are involved in the procedure to remove the span from atop the pillars. The removal of broken span would be done at estimated cost of over Rs. 3 crore. DeshGujarat
