Gandhinagar: Continuing with ongoing rescue operations due to heavy rains in the state, the Indian Coast Guard has undertaken multiple operations in the afternoon of August 29, 2024. The Indian Coast Guard is conducting back-to-back rescue operations from August 28, 2024, at sea and in deluged areas over land, in response to assistance calls from state agencies.

Fifteen civilians stranded in Mahiyari and Dharshan villages were rescued during air operations by ICG ALH in the afternoon of August 29, 2024. Additionally, Disaster Relief Teams (DRTs) of the ICG responded with boats and life jackets for the evacuation of civilians stranded in villages facing rapidly rising water levels in Nayad Vistar and Mufatnagar villages. These Disaster Response Teams evacuated a total of 31 villagers, braving the rising water levels and flow.

It should be noted that a total of 111 lives have been rescued or evacuated in the past 48 hours by ICG ships, aircraft, and DRTs. “We Protect” is the motto of the Indian Coast Guard, and the recent operations have exhibited the steadfast commitment of the Armed Forces toward this mission.
