Vadodara: During the recent flooding in Vadodara, Banker Hospitals took swift action by erecting three-inch concrete walls at three locations to prevent floodwaters from entering their premises. Despite the challenging 72-hour flood situation, the hospitals managed to treat 127 patients, including 27 surgeries.

Early Wednesday morning, three-inch cement-concrete walls were constructed at the hospitals located on OP Road, Warasia, and Manjalpur to stop the floodwaters. However, there was a moment of panic when floodwater began entering the basement of the OP Road hospital, which housed vital machinery, including light panels and oxygen supply systems.

Dr. Parul Banker noted that the disaster training given every six months proved invaluable in managing the flood situation. Amid the crisis, 27 patients underwent surgery, including 12 heart patients, at the three hospital locations. Notably, with no electricity available, a diesel generator was used continuously for 72 hours. Food and drinks were provided for patients, their relatives, and staff, with assistance from three ambulances and a tractor.
