Gandhinagar: As of Thursday morning, September 6th, Gujarat has completed 120.80% of its average monsoon rainfall for the season. This year, the state has received around 1066 mm of rain against an average of 883 mm (based on data from 1994-2023). However, 7 districts out of 33 in the state are still lagging behind and have not achieved 100% of the average rainfall.
Among the regions, South Gujarat has received the highest amount of rain, with 1820 mm, followed by Saurashtra with 927 mm and East Central with 943 mm. Meanwhile, Kutch and North Gujarat recorded an average rainfall of 888 mm and 763 mm, respectively.
Even though these regions have surpassed 100% of the average monsoon rainfall, some districts have not yet reached this mark, with rainfall ranging from 76% to 100% of the seasonal average.
In North Gujarat, Banaskantha has received 586 mm of rainfall, reaching only 91% of the average rainfall for the season.
Ahmedabad has also lagged behind, with only 98% of the average monsoon rain received. The district has recorded 669 mm of rain so far this season. However, Ahmedabad city has completed 112% of the average rainfall.
Surendranagar, Gir Somnath, Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Botad are also among the districts that have also not yet completed 100% of the average seasonal rainfall, all of which are located in the Saurashtra region. DeshGujarat
