Gandhinagar: Gujarat is experiencing consistent rainfall this monsoon season and the state’s dams are overflowing due to abundant water inflow. As a result, record power generation is taking place at hydropower stations. From Gujarat’s renowned dams such as Ukai, Kadana, and Sardar Sarovar, 1067.3 million units (MU) of electricity were generated in August 2024 compared to 308.7 million units in July 2024.
Sardar Sarovar Dam, critical to addressing Gujarat’s water issues, achieved electricity generation of over 800 MU in August. A total of 891 MU was generated from the Sardar Sarovar (RBPH) and Sardar Sarovar (CHPH) power stations in August. Significant increases in power generation were also recorded at other hydropower plants across the state.
