State govt sets up Gujarat State Institution for Transformation (GRIT) on lines of NITI Aayog

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Government today announced that it has established ‘GRIT’ (Gujarat State Institution for Transformation), in line with the NITI Aayog model, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
With the motto of “Developed Gujarat for Developed India @ 2047,” the State Government has prepared a dynamic vision document, the “Roadmap of Developed Gujarat @ 2047.” This roadmap will guide the formulation of strategic plans with both short-term and long-term goals in mind, as outlined in the vision document.
The Chief Minister will serve as the Chairman of the Governing Body of ‘GRIT,’ with the Minister of Finance as the Vice-Chairman, and Ministers of Agriculture, Health, Education, and Industry as members.
Other members of the Governing Body will include the Chief Advisor to the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, and Additional Chief Secretary or Principal Secretary of the Finance and Planning Department, along with experts from sectors such as agriculture, finance, economic affairs, industrial infrastructure, health, nutrition, skill development, employment, and education, to be nominated by the State Government.
A retired or serving Additional Chief Secretary-level officer will act as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and member secretary of this governing body of ‘GRIT,’ appointed by the State Government.
Key areas covered under the Gujarat State Institution for Transformation (GRIT) include:
– Reviewing the implementation of recommendations made by the Task Force Committee to achieve a five-trillion-dollar economy.
– Monitoring and making recommendations for balanced economic development through growth in sectors such as industry, agriculture, investment, and export.
– Evaluating, supervising, and making recommendations for various state government schemes in line with the long-term vision of Developed Gujarat @ 2047.
– Promoting good governance for consistent policy formulation and decision-making aligned with state priorities.
– Identifying priority areas for long-term holistic development.
– Suggesting new measures for development, encouraging coordination between the State Government, Government of India, NITI Aayog, civil society, and other stakeholders.
– Reviewing and recommending policies for the state’s multidimensional development based on successful national and international practices.
– Collaborating with leading institutions for cross-sector partnerships, knowledge support, and capacity-building programs.
– Promoting innovative technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Internet of Things, Robotics, GIS, Drone Technology, and Blockchain.
– Making recommendations for asset monetization and mobilizing financial resources through mechanisms like trust funds and CSR, in collaboration with international financial institutions.
A governing body and an executive committee will be established for the day-to-day operations of ‘GRIT,’ with a 10-member executive committee implementing the recommendations and decisions of the governing body. The CEO of ‘GRIT’ will chair the executive committee, and the Secretary of the Planning Division in the General Administration Department will serve as the convener.
The Governing Body of GRIT will meet at least once a year, or as needed, and the Executive Committee will meet quarterly. A formal resolution regarding the composition and scope of ‘GRIT’ will be issued by the General Administration Department-Planning Division. DeshGujarat
