ACB arrests former SMC Town Planning Officer in DA case

Surat: Former Town Planning Officer of Surat Municipal Corporation, Kailash Bhoya, was arrested on Thursday in a disproportionate assets case from his residence in Valsad. The Vadodara Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has filed a case against Kailash Bhoya for amassing disproportionate assets totaling Rs 1.57 crore.
The arrest comes after the investigation, which spans from April 2012 to March 2020. The findings revealed that Bhoya unlawfully accumulated wealth and made substantial investments in properties while abusing his position as a public servant. His legitimate income during this timeframe was Rs 2.75 crore, but his total expenses and investments amounted to Rs 4.33 crore.
Bhoya’s assets were determined to be 56.97% higher than his lawful earnings, resulting in a discrepancy of Rs 1.57 crore. Inspector AN Prajapati of the Vadodara ACB registered the case at the ACB police station, and the investigation is ongoing under the oversight of Assistant Director PH Bhensaniya.
Bhoya is accused of acquiring various properties, including agricultural land, houses, flats, plots, residential buildings, shops in commercial complexes, and three vehicles. The official noted that these properties are currently under examination as part of the ongoing investigation. DeshGujarat
