Ahmedabad: In the first 14 days of this month, a total of 282 cases of dengue were reported in the city, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) stated.

According to data from the AMC’s health department, the city recorded 1,390 cases of dengue from January 1 to September 14, with 567 cases involving children under 14 years old. The number of dengue cases is higher this year compared to 2023, when 805 cases were reported.

Between September 1 and 14, 282 dengue cases were reported in the city. In addition, there were 47 cases of simple malaria, four cases of severe malaria, and 22 cases of chikungunya. Over the 45 days from August 1 to September 14, the city saw 970 dengue cases, 259 cases of malaria, 38 cases of severe malaria, and 20 cases of chikungunya.

On the other hand, there have been 263 cases of gastroenteritis, 226 of jaundice, 303 of typhoid, and two of cholera reported so far in September.

The civic body also stated that it tested 43,009 blood samples and 6,019 serum samples in the first half of this month, while chlorine tests on 42,870 water samples were conducted, with 213 found unsatisfactory. DeshGujarat
