Okha-Bhavnagar Express halted after derailment attempt averted in Botad

Botad: In yet another train derailment attempt, an unidentified individual placed an iron plank, about 4 feet in length, on the railway track late last night near Kundali village in Botad.

The incident comes just four days after a failed derailment attempt reported near Kim railway station in Surat, in which three railway staff members were arrested by the police. In today’s incident, the iron plank was placed on the railway track, after which the engine of the train traveling from Okha to Bhavnagar came to a halt. As soon as the incident occurred, railway & police officials, including the SP, DYSP, and railway police, arrived at the scene to investigate. The train was halted for around three hours before a new engine was connected, allowing it to resume its journey.

Botad SP, Kishor Baloliya, told the media: “Around 2 km from Kundali village, early this morning, train no. 19210, Okha-Bhavnagar Express, was passing when someone placed an old iron plank, around 4 feet in length, on the railway track. After the train engine collided with the plank, it came to a stop. At around 7:30 AM, Botad Police, along with the Local Crime Branch, Special Operations Group, and other teams, visited the spot and are investigating the matter.” DeshGujarat
