Mehsana: A day after Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal protested at Ganpat University in Kherva, Mehsana, over videos showing students offering namaaz on campus, the university issued a statement on Wednesday. The university clarified that the students in the video were new and possibly unaware of the institution’s rules.
The videos emerged earlier in the week, prompting VHP and Bajrang Dal members to protest on Tuesday by reciting Hanuman Chalisa, chanting Ram Dhun, and sprinkling “gau mutra” outside the university gates.
VHP spokesperson Hitendrasinh Rajput told the media that they joined local students in protesting against religious practices like offering namaaz within the university premises.
In response, university spokesperson Bhikhesh Bhatt released a video statement, explaining that the students involved were new and might not have been familiar with campus regulations. He assured the groups that the issue was now resolved and that the university would take precautions in the future.
