Probe into death of patient at Khyati Hospital handed over to Crime Branch

Ahmedabad: The investigation into the deaths of two patients, who died after angioplasty was performed on them at Khyati Hospital, has been handed over to the Ahmedabad City Crime Branch. As of now, Vastrapur police were conducting the investigation and had arrested one of the five accused in the case.

Dr. Vazirani is one of five individuals named in three FIRs related to a case involving the owners and doctor of Khyati Multispeciality Hospital, who are charged with culpable homicide, attempted culpable homicide, forgery, cheating, and criminal conspiracy. The other accused are Hospital Chairman Kartik Jashu Patel, CEO Chirag Hirasingh Rajput, Directors Rajshri Pradeep Kothari, and Dr. Sanjay Mulji, a bariatric surgeon.

The charges stem from allegations of unnecessary angioplasty procedures performed on seven patients, two of whom – Mahesh Girdhar Barot (52) and Nagar Moti Senma (75) – died following alleged negligence in their post-operative care. The FIRs, one filed by the Gujarat government at Vastrapur police station in Ahmedabad and two filed by the families of the deceased at Kadi police station in Mehsana, claim that the surgeries were carried out to fraudulently claim financial benefits under the PMJAY-MA (Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana-Mukhyamantri Amrutam) scheme, of which the deceased were beneficiaries.
