Surendranagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat has nabbed a Class 3 employee of the Mines and Minerals Department in Surendranagar for demanding a bribe of ₹10,000.
The complainant had requested a lease for silica sand, which had been pending for a long time. To obtain the necessary information, the complainant filed an RTI (Right to Information) request, but the information received from the office was incomplete. The remaining information was to be provided. The accused, Amrit alias Anand Keharbhai, a Junior Clerk (Class 3) in the Mines and Minerals Office, was responsible for preparing this information and demanded a bribe of ₹10,000 from the complainant.
Since the complainant did not want to pay the bribe, he contacted the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Jamnagar. Based on the complaint, a trap was set, and during the bribe transaction, the accused engaged in a conversation with the complainant and accepted ₹10,000 as the bribe. The accused was caught red-handed. DeshGujarat
