Deputy PM of Fiji pays courtesy visit to Gujarat CM in Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a courtesy meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of Fiji, Manoa Kamikamica, in the state capital today. During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister of Fiji expressed his willingness to see Fiji benefit from Gujarat’s global reputation, particularly in the dairy industry and agriculture, and emphasised the potential for mutual cooperation.
In addition to the dairy industry, they discussed possibilities for collaboration between Gujarat and Fiji in sectors such as A.I., I.C.T., and cybersecurity.
The Deputy Prime Minister recalled Prime Minister Modi’s first visit to Fiji in 2014, after he assumed office as the Prime Minister of India.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel spoke about Gujarat’s leadership in renewable energy and green hydrogen production. He mentioned that the world’s largest hybrid renewable energy park is under construction in Kutch. Additionally, Gujarat’s Waste to Energy policy, which promotes biomass, biogas, and biofuels in the agricultural sector, was highlighted.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Fiji mentioned that, given Fiji’s significant sugarcane production, there is potential for cooperation with Gujarat in ethanol production.
CM Patel invited Fiji’s high-level delegation to visit Gujarat for a detailed study of Gujarat’s policy-driven approach to industries and emerging sectors, as well as to observe the state’s achievements in various sectors.
In this regard, the Chief Minister assured that Gujarat would provide its cooperation in the sectors where Fiji seeks participation and guidance. He expressed hope that this high-level visit would establish a strong and effective partnership between India, Gujarat, and Fiji.
He also mentioned that Gujarat, under PM Modi’s vision of a ‘Developed India @ 2047,’ is committed to remaining a leader in the development of India. To achieve this, a roadmap for ‘Developed Gujarat @ 2047’ has been prepared, with a focus on earning well, living well, and ensuring ease of doing business.
The Chief Minister also informed the Deputy Prime Minister about GIFT City’s emergence as an international financial hub. After the meeting with Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, the Deputy Prime Minister of Fiji is expected to visit GIFT City and Amul in Anand.
The meeting was also attended by Chief Secretary of the Chief Minister Shri M. K. Das, Additional Chief Secretary of the Industry Department Mrs. Mamta Verma, and Secretary to the Chief Minister Mrs. Avantika Singh. DeshGujarat
