AMC approves Rs 12.35 crore sewage lagoon project in Hathijan
December 02, 2024
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has sanctioned Rs. 12.35 crore for building a large sewage lagoon in Hathijan for bioremediation. A plot for the project, with a capacity of 102 MLD, has already been marked in the area. The facility will include a pumping station and a rising line for transferring treated sewage.
This decision arises from the severe capacity shortfall at the Vinzol sewage treatment plants, which is contributing to river pollution. The three plants, designed to handle 205 MLD of sewage, currently receive 300 MLD, leaving about 100 MLD untreated. This excess sewage flows directly into the Sabarmati through drainage trunk lines at Chiloda, Nikol, and Vastral. DeshjGujarat
