BJP appoints Vijay Rupani, Nirmala Sitharaman as central observers for Maharashtra

New Delhi: The BJP has appointed Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani as central observers for the Maharashtra legislature party meeting. During the meeting, likely to be held later today or tomorrow, BJP MLAs will select their legislature party leader.

Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule has announced that the oath-taking ceremony for the new Mahayuti government will take place on the evening of December 5 at Azad Maidan in South Mumbai. Before the ceremony, BJP legislators will convene to finalise their leader.

The Mahayuti alliance of BJP, Shiv Sena, and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) achieved a landslide victory in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the results of which were declared on November 23. The BJP emerged as the largest party, winning 132 seats in the 280-member Assembly, while its allies—the Shiv Sena, led by Eknath Shinde, and the NCP, headed by Ajit Pawar—secured 57 and 41 seats, respectively.
