Ruckus at mass marriage event in Rajkot as organizers disappear; police step in to complete ceremonies

Rajkot: A shocking incident unfolded in Rajkot today as the organizers of a mass wedding event involving 28 couples went missing before the event, leaving the guests and families of the couples in a state of panic.

Several brides were seen in tears as some grooms began leaving the venue. As tensions escalated, the Rajkot police intervened with a humanitarian approach, taking responsibility for ensuring that the marriage ceremonies get completed.

As per details, the mass marriage was organized for 28 couples under the name of the Rishivanshi Community at a ground opposite the ADB Hotel near Madhapar Chowkdi. The families had paid between ₹15,000 and ₹40,000 as a participation fee to the organizers. However, when they arrived early in the morning, no arrangements were in place. Suspecting they had been deceived, a commotion ensued at the location, and the families immediately informed the police. Acting swiftly, the police reached the venue and made efforts to ensure that the marriages were conducted as planned.

A police team led by ACP Radhika Bharai and DCP Sajjan Singh Parmar arrived at the scene. Some of the grooms had already left the venue, but the police managed to bring them back and oversee the completion of the wedding ceremonies. ACP Bharai confirmed that a case would be filed against the organizers after taking complaints from the affected families, and a team has started the process of apprehending the accused.

Minister of State for Home Affairs, Harsh Sanghavi, had also intervened in the situation, instructing the Rajkot Police to provide wedding and catering arrangements. Sanghavi, in a telephonic conversation, directed the Rajkot Police Commissioner to make immediate arrangements for the wedding ceremony, including catering and any other requirements.
