Kutch police bust fake driving licence scam
March 01, 2025
Kutch: A racket allegedly providing bogus driving licences to truck drivers has been busted by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Kutch (West) Police, and the prime accused has been arrested.
Acting on a tip-off, the SOG, on February 26, summoned multiple truck drivers to the Vayor police station checkpost for licence verification. A cross-check with the e-transport portal and RTO records exposed discrepancies in 14 licences. During interrogation, the drivers admitted they had neither taken an RTO test nor submitted any application forms. Instead, they obtained the licences through middlemen linked to Pintu, who operates a photocopy and printing shop in Songadh. Each driver paid ₹3,500 online, after which Pintu sent the fake licences via courier to Kutch.
Later, the police arrested the accused, identified as Jitendra alias Pintu Chaudhary, who hails from Songadh in Tapi district. Police also seized a computer, printer, and other incriminating materials from his shop. It has come to light that Pintu had been running the operation for months, issuing fake licences primarily to truck drivers through intermediaries. DeshGujarat
