Mehsana: The Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) seized over 2,300 kg of adulterated paneer during a raid on Keshvi Food Products in Narsihpura of Kadi on Tuesday. The unit was allegedly operating without a valid food license and using edible vegetable fat in its production.
Officials estimate the seized paneer, valued at around ₹5.5 lakh, was being sold at ₹240 per kg to eateries in Ahmedabad and nearby areas, including Zamzam Restaurant, Hotel Sahyog in Viramgam, Musafir Restaurant in Kalol, and Khodal Dhaba, Hotel Amiras, and Hotel Satkar in Chhatral. Samples have been sent for lab testing, and further legal action will follow based on the results.
In a separate raid in Kadi, authorities confiscated around 1,600 kg of suspected adulterated cottonseed oil from Dharati Industries. FDCA Commissioner H.G. Koshia stated that an in-depth investigation is underway, with officials collecting samples from highway hotels to track those involved in the adulteration racket.
