7335 bottles of banned cough syrup seized in Vadodara; 2 held

Vadodara: The Special Operations Group (SOG) of the city police has arrested two individuals for illegally storing banned cough syrups containing codeine, an opioid commonly abused by young people.
The accused, Vipul Rajput (23) of Ratilal Park Society in Waghodiya, who runs Oakland Pharmacy, and Keyur Rajput (33) from Wadi, the owner of Ma Medical Store, were caught following a tip-off. Police raided Vipul’s residence in Waghodiya, where the duo admitted to their involvement in the illegal trade. During the investigation, the police found a rented godown near Gayatri Temple, where they stored the banned syrup along with other medicines.
During the raid, authorities seized 7,335 bottles of codeine phosphate and triprolidine HCL syrup (Anrex cough syrup), along with 1,59,120 capsules of NRX dicyclomine hydrochloride, tramadol hydrochloride, and acetaminophen (SEMDX-plus capsules). The total confiscated goods, including cash, mobile phones, and vehicles, amounted to ₹34.43 lakh.
Both accused were arrested and charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. DeshGujarat
