Vadodara: The tragic accident in Karelibaug on the Holi night has sparked controversy, with student group NSUI demanding the suspension of the accused driver, Rakshit Chaurasiya, a law student at MS University. NSUI submitted a memorandum to the university’s Vice-Chancellor, urging immediate action.
In its memorandum, NSUI highlighted that the accident on March 13 in Amrapali, Karelibaug, resulted in one death and left seven others seriously injured. The accused, a law student at MS University, allegedly violated legal norms despite studying law. The incident has gained national attention, tarnishing the university’s reputation. NSUI staged a protest at the university’s head office, demanding Chaurasiya’s suspension.
NSUI Vice President Tejas stated that the accident, allegedly caused by Chaurasiya while intoxicated, is a serious matter. Despite being a law student, he acted recklessly, leading to a fatal outcome. NSUI insists that such a student should be removed from the university to uphold its credibility.
Professor Dhanesh Patel, the in-charge Vice-Chancellor of MS University, confirmed that Chaurasiya, a fourth-year law student from another state, resides in the university’s PG facility. The university will consult the faculty dean before taking any action regarding his suspension. DeshGujarat
