Aravalli: The district of Aravalli located in Gujarat and Rajasthan border is known for being transit routes for smuggling banned liquor into the state. However, in a recent crackdown, the police, with the help of drone surveillance, busted an illegal marijuana plantation in Muvada village of Hathikhant, Malpur taluka.
Acting on a tip-off, the Aravalli Local Crime Branch (LCB) and police teams raided a farmland and seized 350 marijuana plants, which were being grown under the guise of a corn plantation. The farm owner, Gulab Viraji Khant, has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway.
Upon receiving intelligence about the illegal cultivation, the LCB team, along with forensic experts and government officials, arrived at the location on Monday afternoon. Police deployed drones to scan the area and identified multiple locations where marijuana was being grown. The farm was cordoned off, and a thorough search operation was conducted.
The raid led to the seizure of 128.392 kg of narcotics, valued at ₹12.83 lakh. Investigators are now probing the scale of the illegal operation, potential buyers, and other individuals involved.
Further inquiries will determine how long the plantation had been operational, the intended distribution network, and whether the accused had any accomplices. More arrests are expected as the probe continues. DeshGujarat
