Locals in Vadodara demand opening of bridge near Sama Canal
March 21, 2025
Vadodara: Locals are demanding that the newly constructed bridge near Sama Canal be opened for commuters. They have given an ultimatum to the civic body that if it is not officially opened within 10 days, the public will open it themselves.
A new flyover bridge has been built near Sama Canal, but it has not yet been opened for traffic. The opening of the bridge will resolve the huge traffic congestion problem that occurs during the morning and evening peak hours. The locals have threatened that if the administration does not inaugurate the bridge, they will themselves carry out the pending minor works and open it for vehicular movement.
Meanwhile, the locals have also alleged that the design and material of the bridge are questionable. The work has been going on for two years, but the contractor has been missing for the last two months, leaving the pending work behind. The civic body has not replied to our questions. We are demanding that the authorities inspect the bridge for quality, and if it is found to be inferior, the contractor should be punished. If the bridge is not inaugurated in 10 days, we will open it by completing the work at our own expense. DeshGujarat
