Ahmedabad: Senior Congress leader and former union minister Dr. Girija Vyas, who sustained burn injuries at her residence in Udaipur, Rajasthan, on Monday, was admitted to a multispecialty hospital in Ahmedabad later that evening. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma reached out to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to arrange for Vyas’s treatment, and Patel swiftly coordinated with the hospital management to ensure she received the best medical care.
Her brother, Gopal Sharma, mentioned that Girija Vyas (78) was performing aarti at home when her dupatta caught fire. The family immediately took her to the hospital.
Dr. Vyas served as an MLA from 1985 to 1990 and held the position of Rajasthan’s tourism minister before being elected as an MP in 1991. She represented Udaipur three times (in 1991, 1996, and 1999) and Chittorgarh in 2009 in the Lok Sabha. DeshGujarat
