51 farm side ponds to be developed in rural Dhanera in Khet Talavdi drive
April 01, 2025
Dhanera: To enhance groundwater levels across the state, the government has launched a special rainwater conservation campaign. As part of this initiative, Banaskantha district has witnessed an increase in groundwater levels over the past few years, attributed to water storage and farm pond construction efforts. Today, the foundation stones for 51 farm ponds were laid simultaneously in Bhatib, Dhanera taluka, in the presence of Gujarat Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary.
With the assistance of the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari team, 51 farmers in Bhatib, Dhanera, will construct these farm ponds. Farmers in Banaskantha have actively supported this special water conservation campaign, transforming it into a public movement.
Several projects to improve groundwater levels, along with initiatives such as the Narmada Canal, Sujalam Suflam Yojana, canal networks, pond connectivity, Mission Kedar Energy and Water Conservation, and check dams, have been implemented. Farm ponds serve as an effective water conservation method, facilitating rainwater storage, irrigation, environmental protection, and groundwater recharge. Additionally, they provide a reliable water source for livestock and wildlife. Farm ponds represent a long-term, sustainable solution, benefiting both small and large farmers. DeshGujarat
