Gujarat govt increases assistance to set up new Nagar Seva Sadans in towns

Gandhinagar: Gujarat government today said that Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has decided to significantly increase the assistance provided by the state government to the municipalities of the state to build new Nagar Seva Sadan under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Urban Development Scheme.
The government has also decided to include installation of lift facilities for people including the disabled and senior citizens, solar systems to save on power bills and rainwater harvesting system to boost the ‘Catch the Rain’ campaign.
The assistance of Rs. 2 crore currently being provided to the ‘A’ class and ‘B’ class municipalities of the state for constructing new Nagar Seva Sadans has been increased by three times.
Accordingly, the state government will now provide Rs. 6 crore to the ‘A’ class municipalities for constructing new Nagar Seva Sadans and Rs. 5 crore to the ‘B’ class municipalities.
The ‘K’ and ‘D’ class municipalities of the state are currently provided with Rs. 1 crore for constructing new Nagar Seva Sadans, and this has been increased so that now ‘K’ class municipalities will be eligible for Rs. 4 crore and ‘D’ class municipalities will be eligible for Rs. 3 crore.
25 percent of the amount available for construction of Nagar Seva Sadans will be given to the municipalities for the purpose of repairing or expanding the existing Nagar Seva Sadans.
It is worth mentioning here that as per the current norms, there are 34 A-class municipalities, 37 B-class municipalities, 61 K-class municipalities and 17 D-class municipalities in the state. DeshGujarat
